MY STORY

Hi, I'm Chris

Perhaps you've been thinking about getting back into biking? The kids have left home, you've got more time on your hands, and that desire for two-wheeled madness has not gone away.

My Story

Here's my story, and why I wanted to help those of us with more than a few years' biking experience get back to biking in the best possible way.

How It Started

I got into biking in my twenties, having had an archetypal Yamaha FS1E in my teens. I've always liked the look of bikes — the strange appeal they have that only those who've had the bug can understand. From a DT125 to a BMW R1150RT, there was always a bike — until the kids arrived. Work and multiple house moves (I was in the RAF for 18 years) meant the bikes had to go. I tried scooters for the commute, but that didn't cut it.

The Fatal Words

Four years ago, my eldest son brought round the 125 he'd bought for his work commute. We're fortunate to live out in the sticks, with a nice long private track. "Give me a go" were the fatal words — and that was it. My desire was rekindled, and that's where the Back to Biking story starts.

What This Site Actually Is

This isn't a review site — there are plenty of those already, although I may do the odd kit review if I think it's useful for us Back to Bikers. It's really about the magic of getting back onto a motorbike after a long absence. It'll be stories, thoughts, and ramblings about our back to biking adventure. Stick with me for more.

“Give me a go.”
